Then, the decision. Three breaths at the edge of the ice bath, and in. You get out more awake than you have felt all day.
While your skin still tingles, the dome closes over you. Scent, steam and sound, until the outside disappears completely.
Warm water gathers what the heat and cold began. The body settles, the garden sits at eye level.
Between rounds, you wander. Paths made for noticing, water you can hear, corners that ask nothing of you.
By now the body is warm and soft — exactly when hands do their deepest work.
